September 16, 2008 - Bader Entrepreneurship Scholarship Award
Bader’s previous education initiatives (the MIT Arab Business Plan Competition or the Mentorship Programs) were dedicated to “present” entrepreneurs. Now we are taking the process one step further, at the grassroots level. In order to raise awareness about entrepreneurship as a field of study and to prepare future entrepreneurs, Bader Young Entrepreneurs Program is launching, for the first time this year, an entrepreneurship scholarship for one outstanding student interested in pursuing a BA in Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship Management at the Olayan School of Business at AUB. The scholarship amounts to $36,000 ($6,000 over 6 semesters) and will be subject to the student maintaining proper academic standards and following a standard code of ethics. This scholarship was made possible thanks to the generous contribution of a Bader Member.

Interested candidates have filled an application form found, submitted a copy of their Acceptance Letter from AUB Admissions Office, provided copies of grades of their last 3 years of High School, and tackled the following topics in 2 separate essays (400 words max): Why is Entrepreneurship important to you and why should you be chosen for the Scholarship. Then, the candidate was interviewed.

Following this process, the first Bader Entrepreneurship Scholarship Award was given to Ms. Reem Abi Ali. Reem Abi Ali was an IC student for 15 years and graduated on the honor roll. She was a member of her school’s volleyball team for 3 years and received several awards for excelling in athletics and leadership. Her choice of a major in Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship Management came from her awareness of the importance of this field in creating change and her eagerness to be part of that change. In addition, this field provides the appropriate atmosphere to employ one’s talents, and abilities to the benefit of oneself and the economy as a whole.

Reem Abi Ali was delighted upon learning that she was the recipient of the first Bader’s Entrepreneurship Scholarship Award.
