Berytech tackled head on the challenging task of contributing to the economic growth of the country, by providing the opportunity for young graduates and executives to start their own companies and in turn provide openings for other professionals. This combined effort has the ultimate objective of stemming the drastic brain drain Lebanon has been experiencing in the last decade. Berytech identifies and promotes strategic sectors by implementing a synergy at the highest levels between universities and the companies hosted on the site.
By attracting professionals with varied skills and by promoting both exchange and reflection, Beryech "opens the door on tomorrow's world" by stimulating innovation and creativity while facilitating the implementation of new processes, concepts and steps.

Ministry of Economy & Trade (MOET): SME Support Unit
The SME Division was established in 2004 to create a facilitating environment for Lebanese SMEs and generate constructive dialogue between pertinent stakeholders. The SME Program’s financing agreement involves € 17 million in EC contribution. Its overall objective is to assist the Lebanese government in developing and implementing an integrated approach to SMEs’ policy formulation, training and servicing. In addition the SME Program seeks to reinforce access channels to long-term financing of SMEs and start-up businesses through a special Kafalat scheme.

Kafalat
Kafalat is a Lebanese financial company with a public concern that helps small and medium sized ventures (SMEs) to access commercial bank funding. Kafalat helps SMEs by providing loan guarantees based on business plans / feasibility studies that show the viability of the proposed business activity. It processes guarantee applications for loans that are to be given by Lebanese banks to SMEs operating throughout Lebanon.
Kafalat targets SMEs that belong to one of the following economic sectors:
  • Industry
  • Agriculture
  • Tourism
  • Traditional Crafts
  • High Technology
Kafalat guaranteed loans benefit from interest rate subsidies. These subsidies have been set up to alleviate the crowding out effect of the high interest rates in Lebanon which are generated by public sector borrowing. The interest rate subsidies are financed by the Lebanese treasury and administered by the Central Bank of Lebanon.

IDAL
IDAL’s mission is to promote Lebanon as a viable investment destination, and foster, facilitate and retain investments in the country. Its scope of work entails the following functions:
  • Identifying and promoting investment opportunities in Lebanon
  • Disseminating market intelligence about Lebanon, the business, legal and investment frameworks as well as other relevant information
  • Facilitating the registration and issuance of permits and licenses required for any investment project
  • Providing ongoing support for investment projects once established
  • Identifying potential joint venture partners and strategic allies for Lebanese businesses
  • Advising the Lebanese government on investment policy issues

ELCIM2
ELCIM is a program initiated by the European Commission in Lebanon for the support of small and medium sized industrial enterprises and hotels in order to develop their performances and promote their products to achieve international standards. Their services involve Technical Assistance and Financial Assistance. The Technical Assistance begins with a free diagnosis and could go as far as the action plan and the implementation phase. As for the Financial Assistance, ELCIM provides advice on long-term financing and capital investment and facilitates the process through its prominent contacts with the relevant bodies. A financial expert/advisor visits CCIAT one day a week to meet with the companies and to coordinate with the banks.

Lebanon Business Network
Lebanon Business Network (LBN) is a non-profit, business development vehicle. Featuring an online marketplace and a business matching database, it identifies opportunities and creates links between Lebanese entrepreneurs, expatriates, and international businesses. LBN seeks to introduce Lebanese businesses and individuals to international business opportunities, which can include strategic alliances, joint ventures, related partnerships and trading.

Association of Lebanese Industrialists
Founded in 1943, the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI) is a Lebanese economic organization grouping industrialists from all over Lebanon. ALI advocates a policy of balanced industrial development for all the Lebanese regions.
The Association seeks to create and maintain an environment which is favorable to industrial investment, growth and development. Considering that industry in Lebanon, except for cigarette manufacturing, is purely private, the Association’s role becomes even more significant.

American Lebanese Chamber of Commerce
The objectives of the Chamber is to further the development of economic, commercial, industrial, financial, agricultural and tourism relations between the United States of America and Lebanon. It also encourages mutual investments in the private sectors, both in Lebanon and the United States, and promotes commercial and industrial exchange between the two countries.

The Industrial Research Institute is a Lebanese institution for studies, industrial research and scientific testing and analysis. Its activities and services are organized to realize aims relating to studies, information dissemination, testing and analysis, and cooperation with partner institutions in matters relating to the industrial development of the country. In carrying out its functions, the Institute adheres to ethical and professional standards whereby it safeguards the clients’ best interests.
