The Bader – BBAC Scholarship with a value of $20,000 was awarded to Salim El Hachem

BBAC s.a.l., The Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries, was established in 1956 and has been playing a leading role in the service of the economy and the community since its beginning. Headquartered in Clemenceau, BBAC offers a wide range of banking products and financial services to corporate, commercial and retail customers. Currently, within the framework of its strategy and expansion in the foreign markets, BBAC is stepping forward to open branches and representative offices in the Gulf Countries and Africa, the latest is a branch in Erbil, Iraq and a representative office in Abu Dhabi. Also, the bank continues the expansion plan in Lebanon, which now covers most of the provinces and districts of the country.
Among the most prominent components of the bank's strategy is the hard work to develop the cadres of the bank and its staff and to pursue the refinement of the skills as well to enhance its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by efforts to develop the surrounding community.
BBAC's strong commitment to continuing education and professional development of its employees manifests itself in the $100,000 annual scholarships it grants to its employees for pursuing their education.
For three years, BBAC had been a local program sponsor for The Global Classrooms/LAU Model UN; a program initiated by the United Nations and designed to engage young people in debate about current issues affecting the world. High school students from across Lebanon participate in a year-long program where they are taught Model UN skills such as research, writing, public speaking and debate. At the end, a delegation of Lebanese students gets the chance to travel to New York to participate in the UNAUSAMUN Conference at UN Headquarters.
Moreover, BBAC regularly sponsors a unique six week competition, "Virtual Stock Exchange Competition", organized by the American University of Beirut (AUB). This competition is considered an important supplement to the student’s academic program. Participants create portfolio strategies and trade live stock quotes. BBAC offers financial awards to the winners who have managed to achieve the highest rate of returns on their portfolio.
Sponsoring such great educational projects proves the deep conviction BBAC has in playing an active role within the community by encouraging cultural activities, and its strong believe in the high skills and competences of Lebanese youth, and their importance for the future of Lebanon.
BBAC also offers BBAC educational loan and BBAC school loan to help students pursue their education purposes. Furthermore, the bank offers BBAC youth account which is designed to help youngsters develop good money management habits, by learning to manage their personal finances, in addition to a youth website set to assist young adults gain knowledge and complete understanding of banking products and services along with a comprehensive and up-to-date source of news and feature stories.
With such initiatives, BBAC confirms the genuineness of the Bank’s slogan: “Care woks better than words”.

The Bader – MENA Capital Scholarship with a value of $20,000 was awarded to Timmy Malkoun

Mr. Nabil Sawabini founded in 1999, the Entrepreneurial development Foundation (EDF) which started operations in 2000.
EDF is a not-for-profit organization that promotes entrepreneurship among the unprivileged in Lebanon’s rural and needy areas.
EDF’s objective is to improve the country’s overall socio-economic well-being by providing its beneficiaries with:
- An Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP), to develop and instill prudent and practical business skills.
- A loan program, to provide those ETP graduates who submit viable business plans with financing to launch their projects.
- Technical support and mentorship and micro finance for the expansion of small businesses.
